" 10th September 2009 - 125 trainees comprising project managers, engineers, technical supervisors and technicians of locally-based companies recently received certificates of participation following completion of 3-day technical training courses at Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak).

They represented the first batch of trainees under the Government’s Manpower Training Requirement Programme for the Sarawak Corridor for Renewable Energy (SCORE) being implemented by the State Ministry of Industrial Development and conducted here in Miri by Curtin Sarawak. "

ini adalah sedikit petikan dari campus news kat University aku... fyi, Uni aku has been appointed to conduct the Sarawak Government’s Manpower Training Requirement Programme for SCore right here in Miri... basically, programme ni is purposely conducted to give a basic exposure and explanation on technical knowledge involved in this SCore region...(perghh..gila hebat news report dr org yg x prnh attend programme tu..hahahaha)... tp seriously ramai gile expertise dlm mcm2 field yg dtg sepanjang programme ni buat kat Curtin... dr GM Petronas grade E4, GM Shell Asia Pacific n GM Schlumberger, sampai la ke senior engineer n technician, suma jenis position ada la... jakun gak aku tgk dorg ni... yela.. aku x pernah tgk event camni dalam life aku... well, mostly dr background heavy industries (oil & gas, alumina, polycrystalline silicon n mcm2 lg la).. tapi aku bukan nak cerita pasal Manpower Training Requirement Program ni actually... aku nak bagitaw pasal apa yang aku dapat dari programme ni... hehe..

Hmm, begini ceritanya... (once upon a time... far far away from here)...

October 10th, 2009, aku telah diberi kesempatan oleh Uni aku untuk menghadiri talk about this Score manpower programme.. (dan baru skrg ni aku diberi kesempatan untuk wat report utk blog ni..oh!)...well, this talk basically is quite similar with those previous one in September, however, for this session, the coordinator didn't use much technical terms as this talk is opened to public.. n this talk will be the last programme on SCore conducted here in Miri. (1st time aku concentrate + focus btol2 kat talk.. yela,takut nyesal.. hehe).. tapi kan, 1 thing yang aku terkejut is bout the responds from public.. at 1st, aku ingatkan x ramai yang datang... yela, talk psl heavy industries... quite boring la kn for most people.. sekali bila aku check dalam list, masya-Allah.. gile beyond expectation weh.. nearly 450 have registered.. n sedikit info dari org dalam, tu pn after rejection dr Curtin.. suppose yang datang is around 700.. ni pun sbb Uni aku x dpt nak accomodate more people... tapi, if x silap aku, lecture theater used 4 conducting talk tu lak just boleh accommodate around 300 je... maka, nak dijadikan cerita, yg the remaining 150 tu terpaksa la duduk kat stairs je (sape suruh lambat..haha).. tu pun nasib baik certain Curtin students ada program kat luar.. kalau x, lagi meletup la LT Uni aku tu.. (ada ke patut lecturer aku suruh bdk2 Curtin ni mengalah dgn org luar, bg sit kat dorg.. hehs.. jgn harap la..hahaha)... so, nak dipendekkan cerita, coordinator ni briefs on general overview of this Sarawak Corridor n certain invested-company profiles...

n dipendekkan cerita lagi, kami di briefing oleh expertise2 yang bagi talk tu... Score ni dekat je actually dengan Uni aku... lebih kurang 2 jam perjalanan menaiki kereta...amacam??..dekat kan??..(haa.. tapi tu kalau drive kereta macam orang baru beli kereta baru la)..

n dalam banyak2 company tu, aku a bit excited bila dorg briefs on company profiles of those Rio Talco Alcan Group n Tokuyama Corp... Rio Alcan ni adalah company yang incharge for this RM7 billion-aluminium smelter kat Mukah (area orang melayu n kawasan Taib Mahmud).. n Tokuyama ni lak invest approximately RM1.5 billion untuk build up dorg nye 2nd polycrystalline silicon manufacturing base kat Samalaju (previously known as Similajau)... n not to mention la berapa besar size industry company ni if investment pun main billion2, isnt' it?.. (peruntukan utk Kementerian Pengajian Tinggi dlm RMK-9 pun RM800 juta je..hahaha)... but 1 thing yg attracted attention aku is these 2 chemical-based companies will start commencing n recruit more manpower in nearest future AND prioritization is given to those fresh grads dari local institutions.. n apa yang buat aku jadi lagi lega sangat2, Curtin pun dah collaborate with SCore dlm supply manpower.. so, maksudnya instead of future ktorg (chemical engineering student) dlm bidang oil n gas je, future ktorg dah considered as secured la dalam bidang2 camni... insya-Allah after ktorg grad n lepas semua requirement, rezeki bekerja kat 2 2 company ni ada depan mata.. (haa..msti korg nyesal x apply Curtin dulu kn??.. n msti korg yg transfer dr Curtin pun nyesal gak kn??.. hoho)~...

ok...bout other company yg invest dalam SCore , aku rasa korg semua taw la kot... so, x perlu la aku bagitaw in details k?.. hmm, antaranya adalah project bina natural gas transmission pipeline between sabah and this Score region by Petronas n R&Z Integrated (company org melayu ni... bangga siot), project nak build up deep-seawater oil rig by Royal Dutch Shell, Shell Asia Pacific n Shell Brunei n other sub-contractors, natural gas processing plant (x sure Murphy or Schlumberger), highest rockfilled dam in the world - Bakun dam by Hyundai n Alstom, pastu, dgn Murum dam lg (world record gak la).. then, longest undersea electricity transmission cable in the world dr Bakun dam to peninsular M'sia, aviation project psl ape ntah by Hornbill Skyways n Sopwith Aviation Corp, project nak memperluaskan wifi region kat Score ni... n so on so forth la... (aku dah malas dah actually nak cerita lagi..so, korg search jela kat internet ye)..

n before aku lupa, fyi, Sarawak Corridor ni adalah the largest investment-allocated corridor..RM334 billion n total yang dah confirm invest currently lebih kurang RM89 billion if x silap aku la (ni adalah unofficial figure dr dorg)...

so, kesimpulan yang dapat aku buat disini is, banyak je jobs opportunity kat Sabah Sarawak ni... bukan calang2 company yg invest kat sini..(company setakat Petronas tu, orang x pandang langsung pun).. tapi tu la, mentality orang kita je yang x nk berhijrah... so nak wat camne lagi kan??... pape pun, last thing aku nak cakap is perspective aku towards negeri sarawak btol2 dah berubah... dulu 1st time aku datang miri, aku just terbayangkan orang pakai sumpit n cawat je (mcm dalam buku teks sejarah form 4,5).. tapi after aku sendiri merasa join dgn staff2 shell n company oil & gas yg lain, join locals, then, pergi site visit kat Score region ni, aku rasa aku dah mula start sayang sarawak.. hoho~...


p/s: ksian kat bini saya asyik kena tinggal je nanti if saya kerja kat sarawak ni.. hmm, ntah la ye~...
